Arts and Crafts Co-Ordinator

We’re looking for someone to help us plan, develop and guide art activities for older people at our Extra Care Schemes, Plas Hyfryd and Cole Court.

This role will include working with a variety of materials, such as watercolours, acrylics, oils, pastels, graphite and charcoal.

What’s involved:

  • Planning and facilitating art and/or craft activities for older people
  • Creating a welcoming and friendly atmosphere to help develop the benefits of arts and crafts for older people
  • Engaging with participants and encouraging friendly conversations to ensure nobody feels isolated
  • Take a person-centred approach by consulting with the residents on what they would like to create and helping them to develop their own skills and abilities
  • Provide support and guidance where needed to use chosen art/craft materials
  • To support residents with memory decline.

Time commitment

Two to three hours a week at Plas Hyfryd and/or Cole Court, Caerphilly.

Training

All our volunteers receive our volunteer induction and welcome training, and you will also get role-specific training.

Support

Volunteers will receive ongoing support with the Volunteer Coordinator, with regular one-to-one meetings arranged. The frequency of these will be determined by the time commitment of the volunteer and their individual needs.
