United Welsh is a not-for-profit housing organisation with a social purpose. Rent is our main source of income and we use it to build more affordable homes and to deliver our services, rather than paying profits to shareholders.
As a community landlord, we aim to provide safe, quality homes at lower rents than the private rental sector. Social rents are set by Welsh Government each year, who control the maximum allowable increase each year on our total rent charge.
Working within Welsh Government’s rent setting, we then consider what to charge in the next financial year (April 1st to March 31st) by looking at a range of factors. This includes a consultation with residents to better understand if you think our rent charges are value for money and affordable.
