Community Grant Fund

Our Community Grant Fund is available to support residents and local groups who want to make a positive difference in their communities.

About the fund

This fund is open to a wide range of projects that make a meaningful difference, from strengthening communities and supporting families, to tackling isolation and helping with the cost-of-living crisis.

Whether it’s a food bank, a garden project, youth initiative or sports project, a wellbeing workshop or arts activity, this fund is here to help bring your vision to life.

The Community Grant Fund is here to help as many United Welsh residents as possible.

We’ll prioritise grant applications between £250 and £2,500. Larger requests, up to £5,000, may be considered if you can show a clear need and that the funding will make a big difference.

Residents and community groups, charities, local not-for-profit organisations, education and training establishments, faith-based organisations and other local organisations are all welcome to apply.

The fund is open to groups and organisations who are ready to make an impact and can demonstrate that their projects will benefit United Welsh residents, families and communities.

To apply, your group must:

  • Be formalised with a constitution
  • Have a bank account

If your group is not yet constituted or formalised, and you would like support with this, our Customer Involvement team can help.

Help with forming a community group

Whether you’re an established group or just starting, this is your chance to create something special.

It is important that you read and understand the guidance notes to make sure that your application is as strong as you can make it and that you provide all information required.

We strongly recommend that every applicant contact GAVO (Gwent Association of Voluntary Organisations) for support to complete and submit your application, even if your group feels confident. GAVO can review your application and offer advice to make your submission even stronger.

If you need help accessing the forms or understanding the process, please contact Helen Greenway, Community Benefits Co-ordinator:

  • Email: community.grant@unitedwelsh.com

Applications close at midnight on Friday, January 30th 2026.

This is the last day you can apply for this round of grant funding. You can send your application at any time before this deadline.

All applications will be reviewed by our Grant Assessment Panel, which is made up of fully trained residents, making sure decisions are made with customers, communities and fairness at heart.

If your funding application is approved, we will write to your group with an offer letter and set out the terms and conditions of what will be expected from you.

All successful applicants will be required to complete a Final Report Form at the end of their project, outlining the outcomes of the project, details of what has been spent and how and what difference the project has made.

Projects with a delivery timeline of more than six months will also be asked to submit an Interim Report partway through the project.

Full details and deadlines for reporting will be provided in the Offer Letter and an accompanying Terms & Conditions to successful applicants.

Please note: All grants awarded are at the discretion of the Community Grant Fund Assessment Panel, and their decision will be final.
