Aim to have one to three examples prepared that show how you meet each of the essential criteria in the job description
Be prepared for technical questions and be ready to expand on your knowledge and/or use of required technologies, legislation or procedures relevant to your role
Look up techniques like the STAR method to help you get the best out of your answers. STAR stands for Situation, Task, Action, Result. It is a way of answering interview questions where you provide a real example from your life or work to prove you have the skill they are asking for. Remember not to make the answers too long though – stick to what is relevant to the question being asked
Feel free to bring notes, pen and paper – if you’re nervous, writing down the question can help you focus. Additionally, there is nothing wrong with silence in an interview (despite popular belief!) if you need a few moments to think about your answer before responding that is not a problem – in fact it’s encouraged!
