Development Project Manager Martyn Savage explains how this innovative technology works and why it’s a great fit for our new apartments.
“Infrared panel heaters work by heating objects and residents directly, instead of the room.
“The heaters use infrared radiation, which is absorbed by surfaces and people. It feels like the warmth you get from the sun, but without any of the health risks posed by UV rays.
“This method of heating provides more targeted warmth, meaning it is more efficient and reduces energy use.
“It also comes with health benefits, as the infrared technology avoids heating the airspace in the room and circulating dust.
“This can make them suited for people with asthma or allergies, as well as helping to reduce dampness in the home.
“The heaters are particularly effective in well-insulated, new build homes where there is not much heat loss.
“This is one of the reasons they are ideal for our new apartments at the former St Catherine’s Church.

“They also don’t make any noise, which is perfect for use in a block of flats.
“The heaters can be mounted to a wall or ceiling and they are easy to install.
“They don’t take up much space and naturally fit with the design of the home.
“The heaters can also be customised as mirrors or artwork to fit in with the furniture in the room.
“A wall-mounted thermostat is used alongside them to control the temperature.
“While infrared heaters will be better suited to some developments than others, it’s clear they will be a fantastic feature for our new community in Crosskeys.”
