Three United Welsh teams shortlisted in housing awards

Three of our teams at United Welsh have been shortlisted in this year’s Welsh Housing Awards.

The Rents team are finalists in the Housing Team of the Year category for their work supporting residents.

Last year they secured over £22,200 in Discretionary Housing Payments, distributed food and fuel vouchers, and supported residents facing severe problems with gambling, people living with memory loss and those in crisis situations.

These stories show the team does so much more than just collecting rent, they make a real impact in people’s lives and put residents at the heart of everything they do.

The Skills for Life programme has been shortlisted in the Excellence in Health and Wellbeing category.

The Customer Involvement team has delivered this programme to support residents achieve personal and professional goals, with a focus on improving wellbeing.

They have helped residents overcome 168 barriers to take part in training courses, volunteering and gain employment.

This includes covering childcare costs for interviews and training, offering guidance on interview techniques and CV development, funding travel and essential licences and providing ongoing mental health and wellbeing assistance.

The Seeds to Lead programme has also been nominated in the Excellence in Professionalism, Learning and Development category.

The programme is designed to grow confidence, consistency, and collaboration in our leaders, making sure United Welsh remains a fantastic place to work and deliver great outcomes for residents.

Launched in autumn last year, Seeds to Lead is delivered by the People Team in partnership with Insight HRC, a business psychology consultancy specialising in high-performing team and leadership development.

It is open to all managers and service leaders, with online content also available for aspiring managers, making sure leadership development is accessible and inclusive.

The programme has supported 68 staff members across four groups, with an average attendance rate above 90%.

Feedback has been positive, with staff consistently highlighting the programme’s relevance and impact.

The winners will be announced at a ceremony on November 27^th.
