We’ve broken down the application process into clear, simple steps so you know exactly what to expect, from reviewing the job listing to preparing for your interview.

Take a look at the job listing online. If you have any questions about the role, you can reach out to our team by emailing jobs@unitedwelsh.com.

Complete our online application form, where you can upload your CV and cover letter. Don’t forget to also fill in our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) form.

Your CV will be assessed against the required criteria in the job description by our Recruitment Business Partners. If your CV shows that you meet the key criteria for the role, it will be sent to the hiring manager for review. We aim to be in touch within five days of the closing date to let you know if you’re progressing in the interview process or not.

If the hiring manager agrees your application meets the criteria, you’ll be invited to interview. If a large number of applicants all meet the essential criteria, shortlisting will be based on the highest scores, or we may include a pre-screen call to get more information.

When you attend an interview with us, you’ll meet two groups of employees. The first group will start with an informal welcome, an opportunity to get to know more about you, why you’d like to work with us, and for you to find out more about working at United Welsh.

You’ll then be given the interview questions for the next stage, and 10 minutes to take a look at them and gather your thoughts. Finally, you’ll be introduced to the recruitment panel, made up of the hiring manager and two other staff members. On average, you’ll be with us for around an hour and 15 minutes.

To help you feel confident and prepared, we recommend reviewing the job description carefully – interview questions often relate to the essential and desirable criteria listed there. When sharing examples, focus on what you personally did. It’s great to talk about teamwork, but we’re especially interested in your individual role – what skills you used, what responsibilities you had, and what impact you made. Try to avoid saying “we” unless you explain your part in the team effort.

*This is what most interviews with us will look like, but each individual interview invite will explain the exact format of your interview.

If you’re successful, we’ll let you know over the phone. If you accept the role, we’ll follow up with a formal offer letter and the onboarding process will begin. We’ll also let you know if you’ve been unsuccessful, and feedback is available upon request.

We aim to let people know with one week of your interview, but if we can’t for any reason, we’ll let you know.
