The additional funding has enabled the Get into Housing<\/em> project, now in its second year, to increase the opportunities for more individuals and open new avenues for underrepresented groups, helping to build a more diverse and inclusive workforce within the social housing sector.<\/p>\n The collaborative effort, led by a consortium of housing associations including CCHA, Taff Housing, Cadwyn, Hafod, United Welsh, Linc Cymru and Wales and West Housing, offers paid work placements spanning various departments within the participating associations.<\/p>\n In its inaugural year, the project showcased its impact with 75% of the participants securing positions within the housing sector, while others leveraged the support of mentors to enhance their future job search.<\/p>\n The investment from Welsh Government has secured places for 16 young people over the age of 18, who are now benefitting from the programme, and enjoying their placements with housing associations across Cardiff.<\/p>\n The Welsh Government\u2019s Minister for Climate Change, Julie James, met with the 2024 cohort on 30 January to discuss why they have got involved and how they have benefitted so far.<\/p>\n Climate Change Minister Julie James said:<\/p>\n \u201cThis is a fantastic project and one that we are very happy to support. Get into Housing provides participants with experience, training and access to employment opportunities, and I look forward to hearing about even more successes as the project develops.\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n Afshan Iqbal, Project Manager for the Get into Housing<\/em> programme said:<\/p>\n \u201cAs community housing associations, with a large and varied customer base, it\u2019s important that diversity is reflected amongst staff across our organisations. The Get into Housing programme aims to empower candidates by enriching their CVs, honing their existing skills, and allowing participants to explore a career in the housing sector through paid placements. I\u2019m so pleased to be able to bring this initiative back again after a successful first round.<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cThrough this programme, we are reaffirming our commitment as a housing sector to foster greater diversity and inclusion, with a shared goal to ensure that our teams accurately represent the vibrant communities we proudly serve.\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n Participants receive comprehensive training and invaluable experience, with an eye toward long-term career prospects both within and outside the housing sector.
