A footpath in Dinas Powys will now be lit at night following a community safety campaign.<\/h3>\n

United Welsh has installed street lights along the length of the path from Eastbrook Station to Caerleon Road after receiving a petition from concerned residents last year.<\/p>\n

Community Councillors Anne Asbrey, Malcolm Phillips, and Debbie Evans handed in the petition signed by 400 residents, highlighting the dangers of the unlit path during darkness. United Welsh worked closely with the Councillors to address the issue raised, ensuring the safety concerns were addressed and lighting was installed ahead of the darker months.<\/p>\n

The lighting is just part of a wider project happening in Dinas Powys. In 2022, United Welsh held a consultation with residents to understand what community issues they would like to see prioritised in their community. As well as the path lighting, a new Play Pod was installed for children to enjoy, an allotment space is being renovated for the community to use and additional support has been provided to improve the look and cleanliness of the area.<\/p>\n

Sarah James, Customer Involvement Manager at United Welsh said:<\/strong> \u201cAs a community landlord, it\u2019s important to us that our residents feel safe in their homes and local area.<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter hearing concerns from the Dinas Powys community about the lack of lighting near the station, we have worked closely with residents and the Community Councillors to ensure those concerns were addressed, resulting in the new lighting installation along the Eastbrook Station path.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is part of a wider plan of work we\u2019re doing in Dinas Powys, working in partnership with residents and Councillors to create more opportunities for young people and families to enjoy the green spaces where they live.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
