Renting in Caerphilly Borough

How to apply

From 20th May 2016, if you would like to live in Caerphilly Borough, you will need to register with Caerphilly Council. Our Selectahome waiting list has been closed to new applicants in preparation for the new common housing register which will be launched in December 2016 and will be managed by Caerphilly Council. Existing Selectahome applicants will be able to bid as normal until the new process is launched.

You can download an application form for Caerphilly Council on their website - http://www.caerphilly.gov.uk/Services/Housing/Find-a-home/Apply-for-housing

You can contact the Housing Advice Centre on 01443 873669 or housingadvice@caerphilly.gov.uk

You can find out more about the new common housing register at  http://www.caerphilly.gov.uk/Services/Housing/Find-a-home/Common-Housing-Register

If you have already applied to join our Selectahome waiting list you can still view our latest adverts and place bids on any suitable properties that you would consider accepting. You can see the latest advert on Select-a-home - Latest Advert or view your matches by logging into Homes Online

Selectahome will be withdrawn in December when the new common housing register is launched. You can find out more on the migration process at Important information for all applicants 2016

Waiting times

There is a shortage of affordable accommodation in South Wales and demand is particularly high near large towns such as Caerphilly. On average new applicants can expect to wait at least two years before they are offered a property and the wait is likely to be longer for larger homes or those in high demand areas. The more flexible you are in terms of which areas you will consider, the better your chances of moving more quickly.

We recommend you contact the council to explore all your housing options - http://www.caerphilly.gov.uk/Services/Housing/Find-a-home

Priority card scheme for urgent moves

If you need to move urgently because your home is unsuitable and causing you difficulties, or there is a risk to your wellbeing, you can apply for a Priority Card. This will allow you to move to the top of our waiting list. Please visit our Priority Card scheme for urgent moves page for more information on how to apply and how the scheme works.
